Salem’s Historic Grand Theater is offering a Level 1 improv comedy class for any beginners wanting to learn the skills of improvisation or folks looking for a fun way to dip their toes into performance.
Improvisation is all about using everything for inspiration and developing engaging, fun, and hilarious scenes at the drop of a hat. It may seem daunting at first, but that’s what makes our beginner class perfect for those who want to challenge themselves with learning a wide variety of new skills. You’ll develop synergy with your fellow classmates, work on listening while making your ideas heard, and get your imagination churning out one unique character after another.
This course is led by instructor Owen Lyon-Smith who hopes you’ll say yes (and) to an opportunity to goof off and make things up together!·
Dates:
Option 1 - Every Sunday for 8 weeks (8/30, 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18), 4:00 - 6:00pm
Option 2 - Every Tuesday for 8 weeks (9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20), 6:30-8:30pm
Price: $150 per student for the entire 8-week course

LEVEL 2
Salem’s Historic Grand Theater is offering a Level 2 improv comedy class for improvisers with some experience looking to deepen their skills in all areas of the performance of improvisation.
Once you’ve learned how to do improv there’s so much more to explore and master. Our Level 2 improv course aims to give you, the student, the more intermediate skills needed to take your improv to the next level. Learn more about skills like stage presence, developing funny ideas, and honing your comedic voice.
Our Level 2 class will end with a class performance of all enrolled students. Show your family and friends what you’ve been learning and build out an improv set all your own! Decide on a team name, fun games to play, and refine yourselves into a cohesive unit of performers!
This course is led by instructor Owen Lyon-Smith who is eager to help get your ideas out of your head and onto the big stage!
